This modern home is inspired by the Farnsworth House. This design is made to appear as if it were floating. Constructed on “peloti” piers and similar to the layout of of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s original concept home which was designed as a weekend retreat about 55 miles southwest of Chicago. It replicates the modernist ‘International Style’ bringing the experience of outside to the interior through movable glass panels. The interior is enclosed by a roof plane supported by small steel tube columns. Our plan offers a rooftop garden deck option which can be used for entertainment, edible garden or for moonlight star gazing.

The Modern House

Plans for a two story modern house with side entry garage. Lower floor has an entry foyer, office/den with en-suite full bath which could also be considered a 5th bedroom. Design features an open floor plan of living, dining, family and kitchen. Kitchen has a walk in pantry with adjacent see-through glass wine cooler and and a covered back porch with outdoor summer kitchen. A powder bath located at the rear of the home also serves as a cabana bath for the pool. On the second floor there is a large master bedroom overlooking the back yard and master bath with walk in closets. The secondary bedroom has an en-suite bath with terrace overlooking the front yard. 3rd and 4th bedrooms share a ‘Jack & Jill’ type shared full bath with closets for each.

Estimated construction cost $961,800 to $1.367m.
